Originally released in 1998, after Endtroducing but before UNKLE, Preemptive Strike compiles much of DJ Shadow's pre- major label material in one convenient package in an attempt to bring new fans up-to-date with the curriculum. Early Mo' Wax singles "In/Flux" and "What Does Your Soul Look Like" are here in their entirety, as is the post Endtroducing barn burner "High Noon." Shadow reports that the collection was originally intended to be limited edition, but that the label ignored his wishes after it started selling!
